A family boating off Race Point Beach in Provincetown on Sunday got an up-close look at one of Cape Cod's frequent summer visitors.

In a video posted to YouTube on Aug. 28, a great white shark can be seen smoothly swimming by the boat's passengers, as they peer overboard in wonderment at the large ocean predator.

The video, taken by James Gibbons, was shared on the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy's Facebook page Tuesday. Figures can be seen in the distance on the beach.

"Awesome white shark sighting," members of the conservancy, which works with state biologists to track and tag great whites in Cape Cod waters, wrote.

The sighting came the same day that a photographer captured images of a great white eating a seal along Race Point Beach.

On Saturday, one day prior, the beach was closed for an hour after lifeguards witnessed a shark swimming close to the shoreline.

It seems the sharp-toothed animals have taken a liking to that area.

Two shark sightings were also reported near Race Point Beach on Monday afternoon on the conservancy's "Sharktivity" app, which lets people track previously tagged great whites and send in reports. It wasn't clear if there were two sharks in the area or the same shark had been spotted twice. It also wasn't clear if researchers had seen the same shark that was videoed on Sunday.
