Couple struck, injured by tow truck in Newton

A man and a woman suffered injuries when they were hit by a tow truck in Newton Thursday evening, police said.

The pair were hit by a flatbed tow truck near the intersection of Beacon Street and Langley Road in Newton Centre at around 7:30 p.m., according to Newton police spokesman Bruce Apotheker.

The victims were transferred to area hospitals, but their conditions were not known Thursday night, Apotheker said.

The driver of the truck did stop, Apotheker said.

The crash is currently under investigation, he said.
