Turkey on the loose leads to delays on I-93 in Somerville

A lone turkey caused a traffic backup on I-93 south for over an hour Sunday afternoon, according to State Police.

Police said they received multiple calls reporting a turkey near exit 28 in Somerville around 3:15 p.m.

The Animal Rescue League of Boston was called and removed the turkey by about 4:23 p.m., according to State Police spokesman Dustin Fitch.

Police said they did not have information about the extent of the delays.
