Local authorities rescued the fox, whose head was stuck in the grate of a storm drain.

A small fox was rescued this week after becoming stuck in a storm drain in Grafton.

The fox had its head stuck in a storm drain grate near 30 Danielle Drive early Wednesday morning, Grafton police said in a post on Facebook. When officers arrived, only the fox’s head was visible.

Police used dish soap in order to free the small fox.

With the use of dish soap, police were able to free the fox, which did not appear injured.

“It ran off to the nearby woods, but stopped short and looked back at its rescuers as if to acknowledge their assistance,” police said.
