In a new fundraising appeal, Attorney General Maura Healey is promising to take President-elect Donald Trump to court.

“Donald Trump plans to roll back much of the progress we’ve made in Massachusetts and as a nation,” Healey wrote in an email to supporters Tuesday. “A lot of people are asking, ‘What can be done?’ When the federal government overreaches, state attorneys general have an enormously important role to play. The People’s Lawyer is the first line of defense against illegal action by the federal government and I won’t hesitate to take Donald Trump to court if he carries out his unconstitutional campaign promises.”

Healey notes she worked in the attorney general’s office when it was part of lawsuits against the federal government over the Defense of Marriage Act and regulation of carbon emissions.

She ticked off new issues that could be litigated, including health care, gun laws, climate change, and Wall Street reforms.
