RCC ends investigation into alleged assault at Reggie Lewis Center

Roxbury Community College notified students Thursday that Boston police and the school are no longer investigating an alleged sexual assault at the Reggie Lewis Center, at the request of the victim.

The college issued a security alert to campus Wednesday about the incident, then notified students and staff Thursday that the investigation is closed.

“As of [Thursday], neither campus security nor the Boston Police has been able to identify the alleged assailant,’’ wrote Valerie Roberson, college president. “Further, the Boston Police have informed the college that since the alleged victim does not wish to pursue the matter, it is closing its investigation.’’

The school has previously said the alleged assault took place Dec. 6, when a male student reported that he was attacked by a man outside the men’s locker room on the first floor of the center. The student told police that he was attacked from behind by a man who attempted to choke him.

RCC spokeswoman Jordan Emily Smock wrote in an e-mail that the school sent out the community alert eight days after the incident “in an abundance of caution.’’
