HOUSTON — Robert Kraft came shuffling through the glass revolving doors of the Marriott Marquis late Monday night, clad in his signature Nike Air Force 1s, to grab a bite to eat at an upscale restaurant housed on the ground level of the gleaming 30-story hotel downtown.

The New England Patriots owner lingered for a short time in the lobby of the Marquis before he was escorted by tight security to Xochi (pronounced so-chee), an eatery run by Chef Hugo Ortega that features the flavors of Oaxaca, Mexico, according to the company’s website.

An employee who answered the phone at Xochi Tuesday morning confirmed that Kraft had come in for a meal, but he stopped short of divulging what, exactly, Kraft had ordered, citing a request by security not to speak to the media.

Kraft’s appearance came after the raucous “Opening Night” events at Minute Maid Park, an hours-long meet-and-greet session with players from each team appearing in this weekend’s Super Bowl LI.
