Man shot in Dorchester worked for school

The man shot Thursday afternoon at College Bound Dorchester on Bowdoin Street in Dorchester is an employee of the school, according to a statement released by the school Friday.

“His condition is stable, he is recovering, and we are incredibly thankful for that,” said Mark Culliton, College Bound founder and CEO, in the statement. “We remain committed to our work and to the day in the near future when incidents such as these are a thing of the past.”

The staffer was shot at the Log School campus of College Bound, at 222 Bowdoin St., at 3:10 p.m. on Thursday. Police said Thursday they were seeking a blue Hyundai.

On Friday, Boston police spokeswoman Maisha Miraj said police had recovered ballistic evidence at the scene. She said no further updates were available.

The shooting did not appear to be random, according to Lieutenant Detective Michael McCarthy, a Boston police spokesman.

Culliton said in the statement that the school had no information about why or how the shooting occurred.
