Early morning fire damages Canton apartment complex

A two-alarm fire damaged a Canton apartment complex’s community center early Thursday morning, officials said.

Firefighters rushed to Blue Hills Village Apartments on Randolph Street at 3:45 a.m.

The apartment complex is made up of six large apartment buildings and four condo units, as well as the community center, fire officials said.

“The fire looks like it had originated in the outside,” Canton fire Captain Ed Fratis said.

He said that the fire spread inside the single-story building and set the roof ablaze.

It took firefighters about 15 minutes to put out the fire, Fratis said.

No injuries were reported. Because the building is a community center no residents were displaced, Fratis said.

Officials do not believe that the fire is suspicious, but they have not yet figured out what sparked the fire, Fratis said.
