The body of a man found floating Sunday morning in Harwich Port’s Saquatucket Harbor has been identified, according to the Cape and Islands district attorney’s office.
Harwich police received a phone call alerting them to the body shortly after 11 a.m., the district attorney’s office said in a statement. The man was identified as Peter Benya, 59, of New Jersey.
Benya’s death appears to have been accidental, said Cape and Islands Assistant District Attorney Tara Miltimore.
“The case remains under investigation by state and local police,” Miltimore said in the statement. “However, there is nothing at this time to indicate the cause of death was anything other than accidental.”
