State trooper, driver injured in Southeast Expressway crash

A Massachusetts State Police trooper and a driver were both injured in a two-vehicle crash in the southbound lanes of the Southeast Expressway in Dorchester during the Friday morning rush hour.

The trooper was alert and conscious and was rushed to Boston Medical Center for treatment of unknown injuries, State Police spokesman David Procopio wrote in an e-mail Friday. The trooper was operating a marked cruiser at the time of the crash.

The driver of the other vehicle was also injured and taken to an undisclosed hospital for treatment of unknown injuries, State Police wrote.

The crash took place around 6:45 near the Savin Hill overpass, Procopio wrote.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

State Police reported all lanes were open as of 7:54 a.m.
