A man died Monday night being hit by a car in Boston’s South End, police said.
Officer James Kenneally, a Boston police spokesman, said the crash happened aroung 8:30 p.m. near 571 Tremont St.
The man was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, he said.
The driver of the car stayed on scene after the crash, Kenneally said.
Cory Berman, manager of Stephi’s on Tremont, said the nearby restaurant’s sous chef saw the aftermath of the crash.
The chef has a background in nursing and was one of several bystanders to come to the aid of the man who was hit, Berman said.
“Everyone was extremely helpful,” he said.
