State Police increase State House patrols after Virginia shooting

State Police will increase security around the State House on Wednesday after a shooting in Alexandria, Va., left multiple people injured, including a congressman and two Capital Police officers.

The additional patrols are “being taken only as a general precaution,” State Police wrote in a statement.

“There is no known threat to Massachusetts,” the statement said.

The state’s Commonwealth Fusion Center is monitoring developments from the shooting and “will share relevant information with our law enforcement partners and the public as appropriate.”
