Three pedestrians were struck by a sport utility vehicle while walking on Route 28 in East Falmouth on Tuesday night.
Police said one of the victims, a 22-year-old East Falmouth woman, suffered serious injuries and had to be flown to a trauma center in Rhode Island. A second pedestrian, a 22-year-old East Falmouth man, also suffered serious injuries and was taken to Falmouth Hospital by ambulance. The third pedestrian, a 21-year-old East Falmouth man, sustained minor injuries, according to police.
Members of the Falmouth Police Department, Falmouth Fire Rescue Department, and the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office responded to the crash at 790 Teaticket Highway around 11:07 p.m., and the first officers to arrive found the woman unconscious at the scene.

Police said the preliminary investigation indicates that the three were walking east on Teaticket Highway on the side of the road and were struck by a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer that was traveling in the same direction. The driver, a East Falmouth 26-year-old man, was not injured and stopped after the crash.
The crash is being investigated by the Falmouth Police Department and the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office. Police said traffic was detoured around the site for about three hours.
