Photos: A look at the sand sculptures on Revere Beach

The 14th annual sand sculpting festival on Revere Beach kicks off Friday at 10 a.m. and will run through Sunday at 8 p.m.

More than 900,000 visitors are expected at the weekend-long festival, where master sand sculptors will vie for first prize in the solo competition. Admission to the event is free, but attendees are urged to take public transportation.

The festival also features food trucks, live music and entertainment, local vendors and exhibit booths, children’s sand sculpting lessons, and fireworks over the course of the weekend, according to a statement from organizers.

Hours for the festival are 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. for Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. for Sunday.
