Coworkers, city officials say farewell to Robert Haley

People walked by Robert Haley’s casket Tuesday during a wake at Randolph’s Cartwright Funeral Home.

Hundreds turned out Tuesday night to say goodbye to retired Boston EMS Captain Robert Haley, who died Friday after an illness.

Haley, 63, retired last month. He was waked Tuesday in Randolph.

Haley coordinated the EMS response to the 2013 Marathon bombings. He was “one of the most important people that Boston Marathon runners never heard of,” Boston Athletic Association chief executive Tom Grilk said.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Bernadette Church in Randolph.
