Police in Lowell arrested 21 people on drug charges Wednesday during an operation aimed at combating the opioid and narcotics crisis in the area, authorities said Thursday.
Of those apprehended, 16 were arrested on warrants for narcotics distribution charges, two were arrested during the execution of a search warrant on Marshall Street and face possession of heroin with the intent to distribute charges, another man faces a heroin distribution charge, and two others were arrested on cocaine distribution charges, according to a statement from Lowell police.
“The investigation into drug distribution in the Lowell area is ongoing, and additional arrests are expected,” said Lowell police in the statement.
