Woman crushed by own car in Market Basket lot was 64-year-old Acton resident

The woman killed when her own vehicle crushed her Thursday morning in a Market Basket parking lot in Westford was a 64-year-old resident of Acton, prosecutors said Friday.

Middlesex District Attorney Marian T. Ryan’s office identified the victim as Wei Wang in a statement.

Wang was behind her own vehicle around 11 a.m. when a second car, while parking, “struck [Wang’s] car causing her vehicle to roll backwards pinning her underneath,” the statement said.

Wang was later pronounced dead at Lowell General Hospital.

Authorities have not named the driver of the second vehicle, who remained at the scene.

“No charges have been filed,” the statement said. “This is an open and active investigation being conducted by the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, the Westford Police Department and the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and no additional information is being released at this time.”
