Police investigating truck rollover at Sullivan Square rotary

Police are investigating after a commercial truck carrying scrap metal overturned at the Sullivan Square rotary in Charlestown Monday morning, Boston police spokeswoman Rachel McGuire said.

The truck spilled its cargo of scrap metal across the road, snarling traffic in the area while crews worked to clean the debris.

A major backup at the Sullivan Square exit on Interstate 93 southbound significantly impacted morning traffic on the highway. The Route 99 bridge and Route 28 bridge leading to Wellington Circle were also affected by delays from the rollover.

Crews had cleared the truck and scattered scrap metal and traffic was moving normally in the area by 10:40 a.m. Monday.
