Three men, including a father and son, shot in Milford
MILFORD — Three men, including a father and son, were shot at an apartment complex here Friday night, with one victim suffering a wound to the head, the town’s police chief said.
Police Chief Thomas O’Loughlin said when officers responded to Pheasant Circle, they found three men suffering from gunshot wounds. One 40-year-old man was shot in the finger, one 67-year-old man was shot in the foot, and one 27-year-old man was shot in the head, he said.
The man who was shot in the head was taken by helicopter to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester for treatment, he said. His condition was unclear Friday night.
The three victims, O’Loughlin said, are known to each other.
The 67-year-old is the father of the 40-year-old, police said. It was unclear how the third victim knew the other two Friday night.
Police believe the 40-year-old to be the shooter. He was taken into custody Friday night. No names were released.
The trio was arguing before the shooting happened, O’Loughlin said, and as officers responded to the domestic disturbance, shots were fired.
A residential community called Oak Ridge Village was cordoned off with police tape Friday night. A large police presence responded to the scene of the shooting.
The initial investigation, said O’Loughlin, indicated that there may have been a struggle for a single gun. K-9 units were on scene searching the area for a possible second gun, said O’Loughlin.
“We’re still trying to piece things together,” he told reporters Friday night.
In an e-mail, O’Loughlin said police had checked all the apartments in the building where the shooting took place and “found no issues.”
The investigation is ongoing, he said in the e-mail. Investigators from the Worcester district attorney’s office and State Police were on the scene Friday night.
Messages left with the Worcester district attorney’s office were not immediately returned Friday night. A State Police spokesman said he had no information about the shooting.
