A Dracut man was charged with assault by means of a dangerous weapon after allegedly threatening a woman during a road rage incident in Winchester Tuesday afternoon, Winchester police said.
The man, Scott Lawrence, 58, allegedly cut off the victim at the Winchester Center traffic rotary around 1 p.m., police said in a statement. She beeped her horn, and Lawrence exited his vehicle carrying a 1.5-foot piece of steel.
The two exchanged words, and the woman told police Lawrence threatened her with the steel, but he eventually got back in his car and headed east on Church Street, police said.
Shortly after the woman reported the incident, they pulled Lawrence over at the intersection of Church Street and Bacon Street and took him into custody without incident, police said.
He is expected to be arraigned in Woburn District Court Tuesday afternoon.Alyssa Meyers can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org. Follow her on Twitter @ameyers_.
