Two loaded handguns were recovered and two men were arrested in separate incidents in Dorchester Tuesday, Boston police said.
The first man, Shalik Jordan, 26, of Dorchester, was arrested around 2:55 p.m. Tuesday as part of an ongoing investigation, police said.
Officers executed a search warrant in Dorchester at a Wheatland Avenue address and recovered a loaded 9mm Smith & Wesson handgun, which was later found to have been reported stolen in Waltham.
Jordan was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition, and will appear in Dorchester District Court Wednesday.
As part of a separate investigation, Joseph Nieves, 22, of Dorchester was arrested around 5:35 p.m. Tuesday in the Savin Hill Red Line station, police said.
Officers had been made aware that Nieves might have been carrying a firearm and approached him in the station to speak with him. Officers then pat frisked Nieves and recovered a loaded .22-caliber Ruger handgun from his backpack.
Nieves was arrested without incident and charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, and carrying a loaded firearm. He will appear in Dorchester District Court Wednesday.Ben Thompson can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org. Follow him on Twitter @Globe_Thompson.
