Three snowblowers were stolen from an engine repair shop in Weymouth in late November, and now police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspects.
The snowblowers were stolen from Murphy’s Small Engine Repair at 134 East St. on Nov. 29 around 10:37 p.m., according to a police report written by Weymouth police Officer Dave Canny.
The owner of the shop caught the thieves on surveillance cameras, which clearly show two males loading two snowblowers into a pickup truck, Canny said in the report.
One of the males returned around 12:45 a.m. the next morning with a heavy-set white female with long, dark hair and wearing tight pants and a light sweatshirt with print on it to load a third snowblower into the same truck, Canny said. The snowblowers, one Troy-Built and two Craftsman, were secured in a row in the shop’s service yard with a steel cable lock, which one of the males broke with bolt cutters.
After breaking the lock, the suspect, described as stocky white male wearing a gray sweatshirt with print and a gray knit hat, jogged out of the service yard and then backed in driving the pickup.
He and the second male suspect, who is heavier-set with a “high and tight” haircut wearing a dark jacket and pants and bright white sneakers, loaded the first two snowblowers into the truck and drove away.
The first male returned several hours later in the same truck, this time with the female suspect, Canny said. They loaded the third snowblower into the truck and left the shop.
A detective recovered tags from two of the snowblowers from the scene, which are being processed as evidence.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Canny at 781-335-1212 extension 43228 or Detective Sergeant Scott Saccoach at 781-927-6319.
