New Hampshire men charged with heroin possession in Chelmsford

Chelmsford police arrested two New Hampshire residents Monday afternoon on charges of heroin possession, officials said.

Officers on patrol near the Hannaford Supermarket on Drum Hill Road around 1:30 p.m. saw two men acting suspiciously, police said.

The men — both from Nashua — were identified as Dennis Messer, 44, and Jason Laroche, 38. After investigating, police discovered the two men were in possession of heroin and placed them under arrest, officials said.

During the arrest, a car sped by the scene, nearly striking one of the officers, police said. Police said they had not determined whether the incident was connected to the arrests.
