Worcester police have arrested a 26-year-old man in connection with the death of a woman Saturday night, police said.
Police found the 56-year-old woman, whose name has not been released, in her Bailey Street home after receiving a tip that she may have been harmed, according to a police statement on Facebook.
“The caller further stated that the female may have been harmed by a family member and that the person was no longer at the home, but was at the Dunkin’ Donuts located at 211 Chandler Street.,” police said in the post.
The victim was found dead, apparently from blunt trauma, around 11:30 p.m. after police entered the house for a welfare check, police said.
The 26-year-old, who has been identified only as “a close relative to the victim,” was picked up for questioning from the Dunkin’ Donuts. After interviewing him and other family members, the 26-year-old was arrested, according to the statement.
The man faces charges of aggravated assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and domestic assault and battery in Worcester County District Court on Tuesday, police said.
