Firefighters helped contain the spill from the 275-gallon tank before a cleanup crew responded.

An oil spill at a Mattapan home Saturday afternoon triggered a hazmat response, and a cleanup crew was called to the scene, according to the Boston Fire Department.

Firefighters were called to 16 Tennis Road around 4:30 p.m. after a tank in the basement of the home appeared to be leaking fuel, Boston fire spokesman Steve MacDonald said.

An oil delivery truck was filling the 275-gallon tank when it ruptured and leaked about 170 gallons, Boston fire tweeted.

Seven adults and one child were displaced and will stay with friends and family.

A hazmat technician will remain on scene once the cleanup crew arrives, MacDonald said. No injuries were reported.
