15-year-old girl allegedly stabs another girl during fight in Quincy

Two 15-year-old girls were involved in a large fight at Monroe Playground on Monday afternoon, and one stabbed the other with a knife, Quincy police said.

Officers received a report at 3:20 p.m. that a “large group of youths” had gathered at 39 Pond St., and that someone had been assaulted with a knife, Quincy Police Sergeant Karyn Barkas said. About 40 youths were at the park, she said.

When police arrived, the crowd dispersed, and the victim and suspect were both quickly located. Officers also recovered the knife, Barkas said.

The victim was taken to Boston Medical Center for “serious, but not life-threatening” wounds, she said. No one else was injured.

The suspect was arrested and is expected to appear in court sometime this week, Barkas said. Police did not say what charges she faces.

Further details about the victim and assailant will not available, as both are juveniles, she said.
