“K9 Duke” rested after helping officers track down the robbery suspect.

A Roslindale man was arrested early Tuesday morning for allegedly trying to break into a West Roxbury convenience store, Boston police said.

German Serrano, 37, was charged with attempted breaking and entering into a non-residence at night and possession of burglarious tools, according to police.

Officers spotted Serrano around 1:45 a.m. at the front door of Marino’s Market & Deli on Centre Street. He had a bag at his feet and looked to be “using his body to shield his actions,” police said.

Serrano ran away onto Parker Street and officers lost sight of him, but a K-9 named “Duke” helped track him down blocks away underneath a parked car, police said.

Serrano was arrested without incident.
