A Marblehead hockey instructor is accused of assaulting 3 boys, and there could be more victims

A former Marblehead hockey coach, who was charged last week with raping and assaulting a 9-year-old boy, faces new charges of indecently assaulting two other young boys. And police have been contacted by the families of five more potential victims, prosecutors said.

Christopher Prew, 31, of Marblehead was arraigned last Friday on a charge of aggravated rape of a child and four counts of indecent assault and battery on a 9-year-old boy from Marblehead.

At a dangerousness hearing Wednesday, he was ordered held without bail, Essex district attorney’s spokeswoman Carrie Kimball-Monahan said in an e-mail.

Earlier this week, prosecutors said, they “received information” about the cases of two more victims, also 9-year-old boys from Marblehead.

Prew was arraigned Wednesday on three counts of indecent assault and battery in the latest two cases. He was also ordered held without bail on those charges, prosecutors said.

Prew is due back in court Feb. 21 for hearings in the pending cases.

In the last 24 hours, police have been contacted by four more families about five more potential victims, prosecutors said. The cases are under investigation, prosecutors said.

Prosecutors have said Prew, who was arrested last Thursday, provided private and group hockey coaching sessions but is not affiliated with the Marblehead Youth Hockey Association.
