US Sen. Elizabeth Warren responded to the criticism of National Rifle Association chief Wayne LaPierre, calling him a “radical extremist” in a series of tweets posted Thursday night.

“I don’t want the support of a radical extremist who puts the profits of the gun industry before the safety of our children in Massachusetts & across the country,” Warren tweeted.

Earlier on Thursday, LaPierre had spoken at a conference near Washington, D.C., and he named Warren as one of several Democrats who “hide behind labels like ‘Democrat,’ ‘left-wing,’ and ‘progressive’ to make their socialist agenda more palatable.”

Speaking about the Democratic Party as a whole, LaPierre said the party is “now infested with saboteurs, who don’t believe in capitalism, don’t believe in the Constitution, don’t believe in our freedom, and don’t believe in America as we know it.”

Warren wrote on Twitter Thursday night that she is “fine” with LaPierre not liking her.

LaPierre “made it clear that he isn’t a fan of mine,” Warren wrote. “And you know what? That’s perfectly fine by me. The feeling is mutual.”

Warren referred to LaPierre’s comments as “bullying” of “those of us who side with students over gun lobbyists,” but emphasized that it will not stop her.

“We’re going to fight so kids can to go to school without worrying they might get shot & killed in their classroom,” she wrote.
