Threat of shooting at Georgetown elementary school deemed ‘not credible’

A threat of a shooting at a Georgetown elementary school Thursday was deemed “not credible” by police, the school district’s superintendent said.

The threat at the Penn Brook School, which serves students in kindergarten through sixth grade, was immediately investigated by police after administrators learned of it Wednesday afternoon, Superintendent Carol Jacobs said in a statement posted on the district’s website.

“School staff will do their best to reassure students of their safety and I ask that you do the same,” she wrote.

The school’s principal will continue to monitor the situation, Jacobs said.

“I want to assure you that we take any threat seriously in order to keep our schools safe,” she said.
