Two more teen-aged suspects are in custody in connection with the slaying of a Boston teen in Dorchester earlier this year, police said.
Boston police arrested a 17-year-old from Lynn and a 17-year-old from Dorchester Friday in connection with the fatal shooting of Chad O’Connor, 17, who was gunned down near 6 Kenwood St. in Dorchester on Jan. 14.
Boston police arrested one of the teens near Beyer Place in Lynn on a warrant out of Dorchester District Court. He will be charged with murder and assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon, according to a Boston police statement.
Hours after apprehending that suspect, police arrested the 17-year-old from Dorchester in connection with the slaying.
Neither suspect was named by police.
Last month, Boston police arrested Rishaard Sheppard, 18, and Branden Singleton, 18, on murder charges in connection with the homicide of O’Connor, authorities said.
That duo allegedly took part in a group attack on Kenwood Street during which O’Connor was beaten and shot on Jan. 14, according to the Suffolk district attorney’s office. O’Connor was pronounced dead at the scene.
Boston Police Commissioner William B. Evans lauded the work of his officers in a statement on Friday.
“The officers assigned to this case have worked tirelessly over the past two months to arrest all individuals responsible for the death of this young victim,” he said. “I hope these arrests send a message to those who might think they can get away with these senseless violent acts — my detectives will investigate every lead until they have found justice for the victims of homicide.”Danny McDonald can be reached at email@example.com.
