Worker seriously injured at MBTA construction site in Westwood

A worker was seriously injured while at a Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority job site in Westwood on Sunday morning, officials said.

The injury happened around 10:45 a.m, Transit Police Superintendent Richard Sullivan said in a statement. The worker is now recovering at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, he said.

Police said the worker is an employee of the Case Foundation Company, a subcontractor of the general contractor Barletta . The companies are involved in a project to replace bridge that carries the Franklin commuter rail line over East Street in Westwood. Neither contracting company could be reached for comment on Sunday night.

Transit police and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration are investigating the incident, Sullivan said.
