Good news from the MBTA — the agency recently improved the accuracy of the subway’s arrival prediction times on its website and certain smartphone apps, the MBTA announced Friday.

The subway system will now offer better predictions for the Red, Orange, and Blue Lines. Projected train arrival times will be refreshed every six seconds, the agency said in a statement. Previously, the arrival times were updated every 15 to 45 seconds.

“While our strategy to make capital investments in core infrastructure continues, we must remember that technology is a major part of our infrastructure that needs to be upgraded as well,” MBTA General Manager Luis Manuel Ramírez said in the statement.

In the coming months, the MBTA will make further improvements, including better arrival prediction times at and near end-of-the-line stations, including Alewife, Riverside, Forest Hills, and Wonderland, the statement said.

This update will also take delays and shuttle bus times into account.
