East Boston autistic man reported missing

Police are asking the public to help find Jeffery Cooper, 23, of East Boston, who has autism and has been missing since Friday.

Cooper was last seen near 38 Border St. , according to a statement from police.

Police described him as black and about 6 feet tall with a slim build.


He was last seen wearing a Celtics baseball cap, prescription glasses, a gray, white, and black shirt, blue jeans, gray sneakers, and carrying a a gray backpack, according to the statement.

“Jeffery is autistic and is not verbally responsive,” police said. “Jeffery has been reported missing in the past but usually returns safely after two or three days.”

Police said Cooper is known to ride the MBTA, and may be in the area of Maverick Square.

There had been no updates regarding Cooper’s disappearance as of 8:45 p.m. on Tuesday, according to Boston police spokesman David Estrada.

Anyone with information about Cooper’s whereabouts is asked to call 911 or detectives at 617-343-4234.
