This stretch of lovely weather in the Boston area will continue for the next several days, but forecasters warned beachgoers about a “moderate risk” of rip currents on Thursday.
“Another great day with seasonable temperatures, plenty of sunshine, and low humidity,” according to a Facebook post by forecasters at the National Weather Service’s office in Norton.
Thursday is expected to be sunny with a high near 80, before temperatures drop to a nighttime low of around 61.
But forecasters asked beachgoers, especially those on Nantucket, to be careful Thursday, as there is a “moderate” rip current risk.
Anyone hitting the water today should exercise caution: “please obey all instructions & orders from lifeguards today as there could still be a risk for rip currents.”
A moderate risk of rip currents means that anyone looking to go into the surf today should check in with local beach patrol beforehand, according to the weather service.
That also means swimming safe: Be sure to swim within sight of a life guard, keep a flotation device with you, and don’t swim alone at night, the service said.
For the rest of the week, expect the sunny skies to stick around.
Friday is expected to be just about the same: with a high of 81 and a low of 62. Friday evening will also see some clouds, but Saturday is predicted to be mostly sunny, with a high near 80.
There’s a slight chance that the Boston area could be in for some showers and thunderstorms on Saturday night, which is expected to have a nighttime low of 66.
Sunday and Monday will be warmer: Sunday is predicted to have a high of 85 with partly sunny skies, followed by a nighttime low of about 68. Monday will also be sunny, with a high of 88 and a low around 70.John Hilliard can be reached at email@example.com
