Man dies after being pulled from water in Bourne

A man stricken while swimming with his two children was pulled from Pocasset Harbor Thursday evening and died at a hospital, Bourne officials said.

The man, who was about 50-years-old, was swimming off Circuit Avenue and Bassetts Island, said Bourne Deputy Fire Chief Joe Carrara.

Public safety crews responded at 5:22 p.m. to a report of a swimmer in distress, police said in a press release.

Two people, one of whom was in a boat, helped to pull the man out of the water. The man was in cardiac arrest when first responders arrived, Carrara said.
