Hyde Park man, 28, identified as Mattapan homicide victim

A 28-year-old Hyde Park man was identified Tuesday as the person fatally shot early Sunday in Mattapan, a violent incident that left a second person with gunshot wounds, Boston police said.

Dahrius Hollins was shot around 4:30 a.m. near the intersection of Osceola Street and Hopewell Road along with another man. Hollins was rushed to a Boston hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, police wrote on bpdnews.com.

Neighbors told the Globe the area where the shooting took place was normally quiet and said residents work closely with police about public safety concerns.

A motive for the shootings was not identified by police.

No arrests have been made. Police said the investigation is ongoing.
