A man in his 40s was hospitalized Wednesday after he suffered a medical episode in a Quincy pool, officials said.
Quincy police said on Twitter that the incident occurred around 11:15 a.m.
“[O]fficers responded to a medical call at the YMCA,” the Police Department tweeted. “Caller reported CPR was in progress. Asian male, mid 40’s, suffered medical episode while in pool. Lifeguard was on scene. Individual is currently being treated at [Quincy Medical Center]. No further info being released.”
The man’s condition wasn’t immediately available Wednesday afternoon. His name wasn’t released.
Valerie Sturtevant, a spokeswoman for the South Shore YMCA network, which includes the Quincy YMCA, also addressed the incident in a brief e-mail message.
“Recognizing an adult member in need of emergency assistance this morning, the Quincy YMCA Lifeguard staff pulled an adult male from the Quincy YMCA pool,” Sturtevant wrote. “Police and fire were also on scene. The member has been transported to the hospital for further treatment. To respect the member’s privacy, no further information will be released at this time.”
