Woman escapes flames when car catches fire on Mass. Turnpike in Boston

A 54-year-old woman escaped injury Friday when the front of her car became engulfed in flames on the Mass. Turnpike in Boston, State Police said.

A 54-year-old woman escaped injury Friday when the front of her car became engulfed in flames on the Mass. Turnpike in Boston, State Police said.

The Cleveland, Ohio woman noticed flames coming out from under the hood of her 2013 Hyundai Sonata around 3 p.m., Sergeant Paul Sullivan said. She immediately got out of her vehicle that was parked on the side of Interstate 90 eastbound near exit 22 in Boston.

The woman was not injured and the Boston Fire Department cleared the scene at 3:30 p.m.

The cause of the fire was under investigation, Sullivan said.
