In the Boston area, Sam Adams beer is as ubiquitous as Patriots fans and dropped Rs. But Somerville’s mayor won’t be drinking it anytime soon.

Somerville Mayor Joseph Curtatone took issue with Boston Beer Co. founder Jim Koch heaping praise upon President Trump at a dinner in New Jersey last week, in which Koch said the Trump administration’s tax cut plan will help his company compete with foreign breweries.

“Now we have a level playing field, and we’re going to kick their ass,” Koch told Trump at the Tuesday dinner, which featured a small gathering of business executives from around the country.

However, the progressive Curtatone didn’t seem to like that. He tweeted on Sunday: “I will never drink Sam Adam’s beer again!”

Curtatone also tweeted that the “complicit profiteers of Trump’s white nationalist agenda” need to be held accountable, and asked of Koch: “While you were thanking Trump for your tax break, did you happen to express any concern for the families separated under his cruel and inhumane immigration enforcement policy?”
