No state dislikes Trump’s job performance more than Mass.

In Massachusetts, only 35 percent of residents approved of the job Donald Trump is doing as president, while 62 percent disapproved.

Note to Alan Dershowitz: The aversion to Donald Trump goes well beyond Martha’s Vineyard.

Massachusetts ranks first in the nation for its dislike of the president’s job performance, a poll released Tuesday found.

The Morning Consult survey polled all 50 states individually and found that in Massachusetts, only 35 percent of residents approved of the job Trump is doing as president, while 62 percent disapproved. The difference in those two numbers makes up what pollsters call a net approval rating, which locally is a negative 27 percent.

Vermont comes in second with a negative 24 percent net approval while California, Hawaii, and Washington state all gave Trump a negative 23 percent net approval rating. Rhode Island residents gave Trump a negative 21 percent net rating.

These polls were conducted during July. The Massachusetts poll had a margin of error of +/- 1 percent.

There is one caveat to Massachusetts leading all states in Trump distaste: The District of Columbia disapproves of Trump even more. His net job approval rating last month was a negative 57 percent.

Attitudes toward Trump have become worse in Massachusetts. A year ago, the same poll found that Massachusetts gave Trump a negative 4 percent net job approval rating, meaning that Trump approval fell by 23 percent.

This is the same poll, by the way, that has consistently found Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker, a Republican, to be the most popular governor in the nation.

The state that approves of Trump the most? Wyoming. Residents there gave Trump a net 31 percent approval rating; 63 percent approved of his job and 32 percent disapproved of his job. But even in Wyoming, his approval rating is down 9 percent from a year ago.
