A 64-year-old man went over the handlebars of his bicycle in Jamaica Plain Saturday afternoon and suffered a serious head injury, officials said. The man, who is from Jamaica Plain, lost control of his bike, causing it to crash, State Police said.

He was taken to Brigham and Women’s Hospital. He is expected to recover, said Jake Wark, a spokesman for the Suffolk district attorney’s office.

The man was found on Perkins Street around 3:20 p.m. State Police said.

A motor vehicle is not believed to have been involved in the accident, Wark said.
