City Councilor Ayanna Pressley, who is being vastly outspent on the airwaves by Representative Michael Capuano, released the first ad of her campaign last week, a Spanish-language spot that touts her work on behalf of immigrants and the Latino community.
Pressley’s campaign hopes the new 30-second spot on Telemundo and Univision will help her energize Latino voters before the Sept. 4 primary.
The ad shows Pressley appearing at rallies and community events while several activists praise her as a champion for their community.
“Ayanna Pressley has spent her life in places politicians rarely visit,” community activist Nurys Camargo says in the ad.

“We need a leader who understands us,” says immigrant advocate Patricia Montes.
Capuano, drawing on his more sizeable war chest, has been advertising for weeks on broadcast and cable TV, with an ad that features the congressman and a diverse array of voters praising his liberal record and staunch opposition to President Trump’s agenda.
“Mike’s in the fight,” one voter says in the ad. “Gotta keep him in it,” says another.
