A 53-year-old Leverett man was killed Saturday night when the motorcycle he was driving crashed on the exit 4 exit ramp of the Massachusetts Turnpike in West Springfield, officials said.
Jay Rines was exiting Interstate 90 east at about 5:40 p.m. when he lost control of a 2014 Yamaha XVS950 and struck a sign pole, State Police said in a statement.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash is being investigated by the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Sections, crimes Scene Services and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
