An armed man robbed a Cambridge bank Tuesday and fled on a bike after taking cash from the teller, police said.
Around 1:20 p.m., Cambridge police received an alarm notification from the Citizens Bank on 689 Massachusetts Ave., police spokesman Jeremy Warnick said. The alarm system is part of the bank’s emergency procedure that directly notifies police when help is needed.
The suspect pointed a silver handgun in the teller’s direction and demanded money, taking cash and possibly fleeing on a bike, according to a witness, Warnick said.
A witness told police they might have seen the suspect in the lobby area before the robbery.

The bank declined to comment on the incident, and the amount of cash the suspect took was not released by authorities.
No injuries were reported, Warnick said.
The suspect was described as a short black male, wearing a red and black plaid shirt, sunglasses, and dark pants and hat.
