Massachusetts voters have until 5 p.m. Friday to request an absentee ballot for Tuesday’s state and federal primary election, Secretary of State William Galvin said.

The races on the ballot include federal positions in the House of Representatives and Senate, and state offices such as governor, secretary of state, state Senate, and state House.
Galvin said that of the 4,493,007 eligible voters in the state, 33 percent are registered as Democrats, 10 percent are registered Republicans, and less than 1 percent are registered as Libertarians.
Independents make up 55 percent of registered voters — the highest portion of registered voters.
