A young man who was pulled from the water of a Milford pond Saturday died on Sunday afternoon, Milford police Chief Thomas O’Loughlin said in an e-mail to the Globe.
The victim was pronounced deceased at 12:20 p.m. Sunday at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, O’Loughlin said.
The victim had been pulled from North Pond after he had gone under water Saturday afternoon, Milford police previously said in a statement posted to Facebook Saturday. He was not identified but described as a “young man” by police.
“He was brought to the surface by bystanders and residents in the area on watercraft and administered CPR first aid” by local residents, Milford police, and firefighters, the statement said.
The victim was taken to Milford Regional Medical Center and then flown to the hospital in Worcester, the statement said. He was treated in the hospital’s intensive care unit, O’Loughlin said.
