MIT was third in this year’s US News & World Report rankings.

Many New England universities and colleges were named on the US News & World Report rankings, released to the public on Monday.

The listings evaluate schools based on up to 16 different areas of academic excellence, assign the schools an overall score, and then rank them based on those scores.
