Nearly 50 people were arrested in greater Lawrence Thursday on gun, drug and immigration charges as part of a massive crime sweep targeting “impact players and repeat offenders,” the US Attorney’s office said.
The arrests followed several investigations dubbed Operation Law and Order, which also yielded approximately 10 kilos of fentanyl, prosecutors said in a statement.
Thirty-five people were arrested on drug, firearms and other violations. Eleven more people who are undocumented immigrants were arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents, according to the statement.
Most of the people arrested were from Lawrence. Others were from Haverhill, Lowell, Methuen and Salem, the statement said.
More than 200 law enforcement officials participated in the raid which was conducted as part of Project Safe Neighborhood, a program that brings together law enforcement from the local, state and federal level, according to the statement.
